A sibling structure to motion comics named illustrated films was developed by transmedia studio HALO 8 Leisure with theirGodkiller, which was developed at the exact same time as (but separately from) the Watchmen movement comic. As opposed to repurposing an existing comic ebook, Halo-8 created new sequential art work that was made from its inception to be transmedia art for each a comic book and an illustrated video. Godkiller creator Matt Pizzolo instructed Bloody Disgusting "Godkiller was just a slower production than Watchmen simply because we received to build 200 pages of fine art and story in the floor up first, in lieu of starting with 1 with the greatest comic books ever manufactured as base fabric. Plus we had a dozen express performers rather than just a person."
Even though aesthetically much like movement comics, Pizzolo identifies illustrated film influences as together with Liquid Tv set, theMTV cartoon adaptation of The Maxx, the Berserk anime series, Chris Marker's La jetée, the motion comic Damaged Saints, and the experimental cinema of Ralph Bakshi.
Based on Comics Alliance, Pizzolo stated "the difference amongst an illustrated motion picture and a motion comic is type in the big difference amongst a film that was shot in 3D versus a film that was shot in 2D but bought a 3D put up-conversion. We're not repurposing an current comic book right here, we're developing one thing exceptional from scratch."
The 75-minute Godkiller element was released theatrically in 11 cities just before it was distributed on DVD and cable VOD.
Upcoming illustrated films from Halo-8 contain Ben Templesmith's original project Black Sky and an adaptation of Tim Seeley's Hack/Slash.
